I have been going to Erika Medina, a top dentist in Algodones Mexico for 8+ years now. Once I found her, no matter where I lived (and I lived in Florida for a few years) when I needed dental work, I still went to her. She is the best. I, at one time, lived in Santa Barbara Calif and spent $10,000 on dental work at a high end dental office. It took a week to do the work. This included $400 for a two day deep-cleaning session. That was just one dentist and I have been to many before and after that. BUT when I accidentally found Ericka Medina in Los Algodones, Mexico she has been my dentist ever since, that was 8 years ago. I have recommended her to many friends and people. everyone that has gone to her was very happy about their visit. The cost is very reasonable. I have a friend that fell one evening at her daughters house as they were walking at dusk. She stumbled and fell face down on the sidewalk and broke 6 teeth. So she went to her dentist and was told about $6,000 or more and a week or so to get it done.
I told her try my dentist and she did. I took her down there and introduced her to Erika. Wow was she ever happy. The cost $1600. She said that was the best dental work she had ever had done. She went in one day and then had to go back the following day and she was done. 2 Days. . .Are you serious . . . She said it was the best work ever and she now recommends Erika to everyone just like I do. Besides the best price (Erika has not raised her rates in over 15 years), she has a great staff, all very nice and speak decent English. We will be going back again very soon for a couple little things to be done (we love coming up with reasons to visit Erika and shopping the neat, very safe, little town of Algodones, Mexico. We love the restaurants (we do have one is is very special to us). Great prices on shopping, easy parking across the street in a nice large in the U.S. parking lot. Last time we were there, there were people in the waiting room, (you do need an appointment). It is fun to find out where everyone is from you from, California, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, what? People come from all over.
Here you go, drop Erika a line.
Los Algodones – Mexico
Los Algodones, Baja California, is a small Mexican town located on the extreme northeastern tip of the municipality of Mexicali, approximately 16 km (9.9 mi) west of Yuma, Arizona, USA. Its official name is Vicente Guerrero also called Molar City. It reported a population of 5,474 as of the 2010 Mexican census. It also serves as a borough seat of its surrounding area. It is also known to have more Dentists in one square mile than anywhere else in the world. They also have a ton of Eye Doctors.
Los Algodones is the northernmost town in Mexico, and at its northeastern tip is the northernmost point in Mexico, and in Latin America. Another interesting geographical distinction is that if someone were to travel in any of the four cardinal directions from anywhere in Algodones (due north, due east, due south, or due west), they would cross a U.S. border.
Situated near the borders of both southeastern California and southwestern Arizona, Los Algodones has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years due in part to inexpensive shopping and restaurants as well as inexpensive medical care and prescription medicines. The warm, dry climate of the area attracts a number of older tourists from across the United States and Canada who settle during the winter in the nearby towns of Yuma, Arizona and Winterhaven, California. Organized day trips from the Coachella Valley are popular among seniors as well. Prescriptions? Who need a prescription in Mexico?
From the U.S. side, Los Algodones is most easily reached via Interstate 8 and south a short distance along State Route 186/Andrade Road to the international border at Andrade, California. From Andrade, visitors can elect to park their vehicles for a small daily fee of $6 (overnight parking US $16) and walk across the border, or they can drive across. we always park and then a very short walk to the border. Winters are the busiest, as it is very nice warmer weather there usually.
The popularity of both inexpensive prescriptions and medical care catering to Canadian and U.S. senior citizens has prompted a virtual explosion of pharmacies, opticians and dental offices since the 1980s. They have largely displaced many of the open-air shops and restaurants immediately across the border, and have effectively shifted the town’s focus from tourism to medicine. Nevertheless, a number of shops and restaurants remain, and Los Algodones capitalizes on the tourist trade with frequent fiestas throughout the year, most notably around the Christmas season. Hey, if you go try to remember to tell whoever there why you found them, thanks. Remember us, thanks.
